This weekend it rained for an entire day, and the city of Los Angeles rejoiced. We took our rain jackets out of the "clothing we rarely need but have just in case" cupboard, opened the windows to let in some fresh air, and I took lots and lots of pictures of rain droplets.

Toby and I had the misfortune of spending a large chunk of the day in the car; if you know anything about LA, you know that drivers here tend to confuse "water" with "ice" and "rainstorm" with "drive like maniacal tortoises". Traffic was horrendous, but I made Toby drive, so I had plenty of time to take photos through the windshield. When life hands you lemons, right?
It was a gorgeous day. I will always love that in Los Angeles, rain is news, and that it's something people here actually look forward to instead of constantly having to wonder if it will ruin their plans. I woke up and fell asleep to the sound of raindrops pattering on the roof, and it doesn't get much better than that (unless you're in a tent; the sound of raindrops on a tent while lying dry and snug in a sleeping bag - preferably with an attractive, scruffy boyfriend-type by your side - is absolutely one of my favorite sounds).
I leave you with a playlist of songs with the word "rain" in them (not to be confused with a list of songs that are good to listen to on a rainy day, although many of these do fit that bill as well), via my iTunes:
Happy Monday!

gorgeous photos!!! xoRachel
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel!
DeleteLove these! Amazing how much color can fit into a single raindrop. I think my favorite shot might be the one of the pink droplets. :) Rain is news in L.A... THAT is also amazing.
ReplyDeleteI know, I couldn't get over the colors either...I miiiight have taken a couple of those while I was driving (but at a complete standstill, I swear). I just couldn't help myself!
DeleteAww..I love rainy days. They are so relaxing and calming, aren't they? Those photos are simply amazing. Muah, sweetie
ReplyDeleteThanks Diana! Rainy days are the BEST for snuggling and drinking tea and being cozy. That's one downside to sunshine all the time...but I'm not complaining =].
DeleteSuch lovely photos of rain drops! Love.
