Academy Awards 2013

Last year I walked around the Hollywood strip for a few hours and took pictures of the crews setting up for the Oscars, and I had so much fun that I decided to do it again.

This year I had much less time, and an Oscars-themed Domo & Friends photo shoot to attend to, so there are less pictures, but it turns out not much changes from year to year - the general setup and equipment was the same as far as I could tell - so click here if you want to see more.

I guess it makes sense that they just stuff everything into storage and reuse it year after year; it's not like they don't spend thousands-to-millions of dollars on other aspects of the show, so they might as well save money where they can.

This year I'll be watching the Oscars with D&L. I can't wait to hear opinions about the best-dressed on the red carpet and whose acceptance speech was the lamest from the four-and-five-year-old demographic. It promises to be entertaining.

Happy Oscars!

  1. Cool behind-the-scenes shots! After watching the CBS special on what goes into putting on the Super Bowl, I have an even greater appreciation for these events that appear to go off without a hitch.

    1. Yeah dude, the amount of work that goes into stuff like this is crazy. My friend works with the press for the Oscars, and the amount of days/hours they spent on site setting stuff up was ridiculous, so I can't even imagine what the actual event organizers/crew had to go through.

    1. It was! I love walking around and watching people and realizing that what I'm looking at will be globally broadcast in just a couple of days.
