Sometimes, when you throw something out to the universe, the universe delivers. In this case, my friend Sarah and I had been wanting to try our hand at wedding photography, and had been talking about it for a few months. Then, kind of out of the blue, an opportunity was presented to Sarah to take some photos of a mutual friend's wedding. And that is how we met Michael and Carmen.
This was a very spur of the moment event for Sarah and me. We were offered the job only a couple of weeks before the wedding, and we decided dive in head on, making sure that the happy couple understood our full disclaimer that neither of us really had any idea what we were doing. Lucky for us, they were more than happy to be our guinea pigs, without even meeting us in person. All they had to go off of was a recommendation, my Facebook page, and a few of Sarah's photos that she sent to them in an email. And they liked us!
Sometimes, you just get lucky.
I'll write more about the actual lessons learned from this wedding in another post, but for now I just want to share some of the photos I took that day (all of the photos posted here are mine - hopefully Sarah will someday make a blog so she can showcase her amaaaaazing skillz as well =P). It was a gorgeous wedding full of people from all over the world, including a large contingent of Argentines that traveled all the way from South America to watch Carmen get married to her love. Spanish and English intermingled throughout the whole night (which made me super happy as a quasi-Spanish speaker), there was dancing and delicious food and stories, and the weather was typical SoCal weather (aka: perfect). It was absolutely the best first wedding experience we could have asked for - everyone was warm and gracious, and Carmen and Michael were so chill about the whole thing, which really helped to put Sarah and me at ease.
Anyway, enough blabbering, more photo-ing. Enjoy!
It was a gorgeous wedding. Happy Tuesday!
