Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for many things on a daily basis: my health, my family, my friends, and my wonderful life with its wonderful opportunities, just to name a few. Those are givens, and one of my goals is to voice my gratitude for them more often and not save it just for Thanksgiving.

So today, yes, I am thankful for all of the above, but I am also feeling a heightened sense of thankfulness for more specific things I have experienced thus far today. I thought I'd share some of them with you.

1 :: I am thankful that the roads in LA are almost (almost) completely empty today. Driving was a breeze, and bonus: I hit a million green lights and cruised through a million yellow lights as well. I can't even fathom how different my life would be if the roads were that amazing every day, but for now, I am just grateful for being able to experience it at all.

2 :: I am thankful for my manly-man boyfriend, who, as I write this, is sitting on the floor, simultaneously being a handy man for our friend Jenne (whose house we're at for our Thanksgiving feast) and watching football and shouting at the television and making hand gestures to tell the refs what to do. Some of them look kind of dirty. I'll trust that they're actually football-related.

3 :: Also boyfriend related: Toby just got his very first smartphone (awww), and has subsequently become very attached to Instagram. He enjoys posting photos upside down. Annoying? Yes. But also endearing (don't tell him I said that), because it's very Toby-like. Here's a photo he just posted today:

The caption for this photo is "Turkey in the oven. Charlie on my lap. Beer number two. Lions winning! I ♥ Thanksgiving."

You guys, he used a heart! Like, a real heart! Not even I do that (I don't even know how to do it), and I'm a social media addict. So today I am thankful for my boyfriend surprising me by being super cute and internet savvy when I least expect it.

3. I am thankful for the effing weather in Los Angeles (that sounds angry, but I use the f-word in all situations of life; in this case, it's meant to be ecstatic). While not very Thanksgiving-like, at least for a Minnesota girl like me, it is absolutely gorgeous outside today, so I ain't complainin'. I still get to wear my sweater boots. =]

I just took this - ignore the power lines and take a gander at those mountains in the background!
4 :: I am thankful for the internetz. This is a daily occurrence, but today it's for two very specific reasons. First is this:

I'm legit about to run to the store to get the ingredients to make these. Wish me luck. "Recipe" here.

The second reason I love the internet is this:

Those, my friends, are wine sippy cups (buy them here), and without the internet (or Buzzfeed), I never would have heard of them. If I'm being honest, these are the reason I am most thankful to be alive today. So. Awesome.

I'll stop here - I should go join my friends and be social. I hope your day is wonderful and beautiful and filled with loved ones and wine and food babies.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and to all a good night!
