Living a couple thousand miles down the road from where I grew up, it's easy to feel a little homesick when the holidays roll around. Toby and I have gone home for Christmas every year thus far, but last year we stayed in Los Angeles for Thanksgiving. Luckily, almost all of our pals did as well, so we came together to celebrate what all of the cool kids are celebrating these days: Friendsgiving.
A month or so ago, Bon Appétit Magazine reached out to me about using one of the photos from my Friendsgiving blog post for an article in their November issue about people celebrating Thanksgiving far away from home. I, of course, said yes, signed a couple of papers, and then forced myself to forget about it, not wanting to get my hopes up in case they changed their minds. Today, I finally grabbed a copy while at the grocery store, flipped through it, and found my photo, happily nestled on page 90:
The amazing photographers I follow online are all super chill whenever their photos are printed in cool publications, but being the small-timer that I am, I'm gonna go ahead and admit that I'm pretty stoked about this one. I bet the cashier at Whole Foods was a little concerned that I was grinning from ear to ear about buying a poached salmon sushi roll and a magazine.
Thanks, Bon Appétit!
Happy Wednesday, friends.
