Twenty Fourteen

Happy New Year, blogosphere! I had a physically-cold-but-emotionally-warm trip back to Minnesota (photos coming soon), and a fantastic New Year's Eve back here in California, complete with champagne and party hats, noisemakers and fabulous friends.

So much happened in 2013, and I'm looking forward to what 2014 will bring. There are so many little changes that I want to make in my lifestyle and my routine; so many grand schemes and adventures that I have whirling around in my head.

I would really like for this to be the year of taking it step by step, and not letting the big picture overwhelm me. I'm not big on resolutions (the second I tell myself I HAVE to do something, the stubborn teenager inside of me instantly starts protesting and finding ways to avoid it), but last week, Austin Kleon blogged about a New Year's resolution that I think I can actually get behind: something small, every day.

There's nothing grandiose about it; it's so simple and open-ended that I might just be able to pull it off. Like Austin suggests, I'm going to try looking for the time to do things instead of complaining I can't find it. Something tells me that watching less Sex & The City and spending more time completing my To-Do lists might help with that. Baby steps, right? Here's to getting shit done.

And here's to 2014.
